Rise Up Campaign

The Prevention Resource Center is spearheading a collaborative task force to combat the issue of Prescription drug misuse.  The newly formed Region 10 Rise Up Task Force consists of providers from prevention, intervention, treatment and recovery from substance use.  Activities and events from the task force include a prevention campaign focused on educating the community of the addictive nature of prescription medication.  Other activities include a Prescription Drug Misuse Prevention Regional Town Hall meeting in May and Opioid Overdose Prevention Trainings in June.  We are excited about the direction and guidance the Region 10 Rise Up Task Force will provide in addressing prescription drug misuse for El Paso and the surrounding areas:

Texas HHSC goals for their State Campaign includes:

  • Promote safe and effective prescribing and dispensing policies and practices;
  • Guide appropriate patient use, storage, and disposal of prescription drugs;
  • Support proper pain management methods;
  • Minimize the unintended consequence of increased heroin use;
  • Promote the expansion of medically assisted treatment opportunities
